What if your site has an existing People page?

For site managers with an existing People page that uses the same URL alias as the dynamic People page (i.e. /people), some additional steps are required to display the dynamic People List page.

Option 1: Delete the existing People page

If site managers have no need for their previously created People page, they can proceed with deleting it. After deletion, the new dynamic People List page should be viewable at "/people".

  1. Navigate to your previously created People page.
  2. Click on the Delete button in the page administrative toolbar.
  3. Confirm deletion by clicking on the additional Delete button that appears.

Option 2: Keep the existing People page and update the url redirects

If site managers would like to keep their existing People page, a few url adjustments are needed so the dynamic People List page is viewable at "/people".

  1. Navigate to your previously created People page, and click Edit on the page administrative toolbar.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit page, and select the URL Alias tab.
  3. Uncheck “Generate automatic URL alias” to create a custom alias.
  4. Change the URL of the page from /people to /people-old (or a different url as desired).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Once the url has changed, a url redirect will automatically be created so that "/people" will still route to "/people-old". This redirect must be deleted so that "/people" will route to the new dynamic People List page.
  7. Staying on the previously created Person page, click Edit on the page administrative toolbar.
  8. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit page, and select the URL redirects tab.
  9. A url redirect from "/people" should be shown.
  10. To delete this redirect, click on the dropdown icon next to Edit under Operations, and select Delete.
  11. Confirm deletion by clicking on the additional Delete button that appears.
  12. The dynamic People page should now be viewable at "/people", with the previously created People page viewable at "/people-old".
